Brain Is Melting
It’s hot. Stepping outside was like being slapped in the face with a soggy wool blanket, disgusting and hot. In spite of that we did go outside to dig around in the sandbox until I just couldn’t stand it anymore. Of course you can guess what happened when I made this decision by myself without the input of MC…oh yes total and complete meltdown. He sat on the floor all forlorn with snot running down his sandy chin at the injustice of it all. He went to the only place he could find comfort…under the kitchen table. Poor, poor baby.
Lunch was delayed as he was far too busy protesting his lack of input.
I patiently *cough cough* waited for the protest to end. While waiting Merlin stole MC’s sandwich off of the table. Murphy’s Law would indicate that this would be the time that MC would cease all protesting because he was hungry.
Lunch delayed to repeat the sandwich making process.
Second meltdown achieved for not getting lunch RIGHT NOW.
More waiting.

Oops
Sorry for the break there! I can’t believe it’s been a week since I wrote here. In my defense we did have a long weekend last weekend and we got busy doing some much needed home projects.
The garage got tidied a bit. We’ve got 9 bags of actual garbage ready to go, as well as two boxes of stuff for the reuse centre. We also cut our lumber to make a cedar planter box. However we ran out of time since we actually expected the weather forecast to be correct (an obvious error on our part) so it’s in the garage waiting to be put together and put in the yard so that we can start planting. Right now we’re thinking some herbs and maybe a few veggies.
I think MC is getting more teeth. He is cranky and spent most of this morning alternating between hitting me, the dogs, and the walls. Fun times. I’m guessing these are the back molars since he’s got all the rest already. His shirt is soaked from drooling so much and he’s constantly chewing on whatever toy he happens to be playing with. The best though is the complete refusal of food…not even juice. I’m not sure how long this is going to last but if he follows his past routines we’re looking at a couple of weeks and since he usually gets two teeth at once this should suck, royally.
Waiting and waiting for the weather to be nice so we can go hang outside again…It’s been cold and wet for a few days now. I guess that’s spring though.

Let’s Hear It for the IT Guy!
It’s a real bonus to be married to a computer geek! He found out how to get my USB key working again, there was some kind of hate on for Vista. Now I have most of my story…which means I didn’t save the whole thing onto that key. I guess now I have no excuse for not reading it. So I aim to do that this week. This is step one in editing as far as I can tell and it’s bound to be painful to not actually make any corrections. I suppose this is good practice though for when I actually write something that has a chance in hell of being published. I think I need to work on my writing confidence.
Pretty quiet day around here, having some friends around for burgers. She hasn’t met MC yet so this should be funny. He hates meeting new people, he goes mute and won’t let go of me.

Little Picasso
Today was MC’s first foray into the world of art. I had imagined in my head that this was going to be beyond messy, I figured paint would be everywhere. What actually happened was a half hour of MC quietly brushing the paint on the paper and on the easel. He was very serious as he watched the magic of paint explode before his eyes. There was a bit of paint spreading onto the drop cloth, and my foot but other than that nothing. I think he was too busy concentrating on the paper!
So here’s his first picture…a blue period…toddler style…

Kissy, Kissy
Merlin has been known to pass gas occasionally…okay, like everyday. So here I am sitting ever so innocently watching Play With Me Sesame and waiting for MC’s afternoon munchies to kick in. Merlin jumps up to sit beside me and not so noiselessly passes his daily fart. MC felt the need to respond to this wondrous noise…with what you say? His own fart noise? A raspberry?
Oh no, nothing that mundane. The boy copies Merlin with kissy noises.
All this time I thought that Merlin was just doing what dogs do, but MC has shown me that this is the way dogs blow kisses.
