Fall…Already?
It feels like summer never really happened around here. No humidity, no heat, no swimming in the little pool…nothing. Most days were either wet or looked wet, weekends were rained out. Blah.
But the new season has brought me back here. I’ve been in an organizing FRENZY! I pulled all of Scott’s computer bits and pieces out of the closet and organized it into two 5 bin plastic drawer units which are STUFFED! I know there is another drawer of cables but there is no more room at the inn.
I also pulled out the ancient IKEA unit that was housing the computer bits (not in the most functional way) out of the closet of computer piece doom and it is now acting as the boy’s toy unit. He seems to enjoy knowing where his cars are, his “pieces” (puzzles for the rest of us). Even putting them in the drawers and cupboards seems entertaining for him. I’ll post pics next week I think.
I need to get back to posting her regularly, to remind myself of what I’ve accomplished in this crazy house and to keep writing….I’ve missed it.

Operation Deep Clean
Well, it’s begun…. *insert dramatic music here*
The post NaNo deep clean has started. The two bathrooms upstairs were the first recipients of the sparkle and shine. And do you know what kind of disgusting crap gets in sink drain, that was awful. But the floors are gleaming, the faucets sparkle and I think I’ve managed to vacuum up all my stray hairs….okay not all, but most.
Kate’s project is moving along nicely. I’ve only had to rip out one full set of stitching due to stupidity on my part. And then I had to rewind my bobbin, and I couldn’t sew without the material bunching up again…so I re-threaded everything and was well on my way.
I wish I could show pictures…heck even say what I’m making but I know Kate checks here sometimes…so hush. After Christmas I’ll post my projects, still have a lot to do.
Bits ‘n Pieces
The fabric has all been washed and dried and I was left with the decision of what to start first. I have three gifts to sew, one for my aunt, my mom and Kate.
Kate’s gift won because it is complicated and the chances of me having to completely redo the entire project are quite high. I can also switch to a less complex project when this one annoys the living crap out of me…and it will….oh it will. Why? Because I couldn’t find a pattern I liked, in the dimensions I wanted so I’ve cobbled together bits and pieces from patterns that other people have made.
Today I’ve completed Phase 1 and Phase 2….Phase 1 is the ever exciting ironing…that was great. Yeah, not really. Phase 2 is cutting all of the pieces. As a new sewer this is something I struggle with, the dreaded straight line. I’m using my own pattern so I can’t just pin the pattern on and follow that, so I measure and measure and then measure again….cut…then measure.
Tomorrow, I’ll piece it together. I hope.
If you don’t hear from me send out a search party as I’m probably shivering in a corner muttering to myself. Bring booze.

She’s Baaaaack
Okay…another November NaNo has past and I finally feel that my brain is capable of forming words again. My final word count was just over 55,000 and I’m pretty happy with that. I had wanted to beat my previous year word count but it wasn’t in the cards…next year I’ll hope that nobody gets sick, nobody needs to go to the emergency room and I’ll aim to get MC’s party together in October (hahahaha…I’m funny eh!).
So now the post NaNo disaster that is my home needs to be tamed into submission. I’ve started with the upstairs, since that’s where MC and I spend most of our mornings. The kitchen keeps rearing it’s ugly head, and I’m sure it would’ve been worse without Scott’s (very patient) assistance. And then there’s the Christmas decorations that are sitting in the basement in a plastic bin, labeling might have been a good idea.
I’m working on my mother in law’s gift today, it’s actually going smoothly so I expect my sewing machine will either start smoking and burning or all of my stitches will dissolve. And I still have several more projects to go. Tonight I’m going out to buy fabric for those projects…at least I’m improving my speed with the sewing machine.
So…I’m back. I will be posting more now that my brain has had a chance to relax and recuperate!

Playroom Re-Org Part One
I moved some things around the play room. I realize this doesn’t help you much as I’m not posting any pictures….but I’m telling you anyway. LOL
The upside is the room looks bigger. The downside, I now need to find new homes for a bunch of knick knacks and books in the corner shelf because it is going. I need that spot for the easel.
Another upside is I’ve now found a place to practice with my veil without worrying about dogs or cats pouncing on me.
I’ll post some pictures when I’ve got everything where I want it.
And no, I haven’t touched any of Scott’s computer gear. Not even a single extra cable…pinky swears.

Where, oh where did I put it???
I’ve looked high and low, in and out, up and down and I just can’t find it. I really, really need to find MC’s birth certificate and it is GONE.
We have a small metal box where we keep things like this, passports and the like and it isn’t in there. Which means I’ve taken it out at some time for some reason and put it somewhere.
So give me your ideas…where have you put important things?
*sigh* This is why I need to get myself organized.

Clubbing
This Sunday we’re celebrating my grandma’s birthday and Julie’s birthday at my dad’s golf club. Having been informed of the dress code we went to the club’s website to have a look….
- In general, “Smart Casual”
- No denim of any colour or description
- Shirts must have collars and be worn neatly, mock turtle or turtle neck accepted. Men and boys shirts must be tucked in.
- Golf related logos only on all garments
- Caps/hats may not be worn backwards
- Soft spikes must be worn on the course
- Golf sandals are permitted provided socks are worn
- No spandex
- No rugger, cargo, track suit or other un-tailored pants or shorts
- Golf shorts are permitted provided that they shall be tailored and knee length (Bermuda length) and that the socks are: knee length OR ankle length OR low cut sockettes
- NOTE: Socks cannot be rolled down to conform and mid-calf sport socks are unacceptable
This means that I need to go shopping. I’m guessing “logos” would include any and all trucks, cars, dinosaurs and sports shirts….not that he could wear a t-shirt anyway. I don’t have any collared shirts for him either since we don’t have reason to wear that kind of shirt. And then the pants…I’m now petrified about picking the “wrong pants”, I don’t even know what rugger pants are. Of course the rest of his pants are cargo pants or jeans. Scott will need a sports jacket…and whatever else the list calls for because he dresses casual at work. At least I have a skirt, I just need a shirt and shoes.
Hopefully I can find a sale somewhere so I don’t have to spend a lot of money. Please, please, please let there be a sale somewhere.

Pondering a Change
Spending most of my day in the play room/office has left me with ample time to ponder some changes….my husband LOVES when I come up with this stuff.
We have a wall of bookcases…with surprisingly…a lot of books and other assorted crap on it. The bottom two shelves are for MC’s toys but the rest is all grown up stuff. We have 3 billy bookcases from IKEA and a matching corner unit. I am beginning to really hate that corner unit, it doesn’t hold a lot and it’s really just for knick knacky type things, in a houseful of cats and a grabby toddler those knick knacks really need to go behind glass. So first change….the corner unit has GOT to go!
And then I started pondering moving the book shelves to the other side of the room, which would mean switching places with the desk and assorted computer gear. Scott’s face as I pondered this aloud was the classic oh-god-no face that he usually gets when I decide to shake things up. Now normally I can move the furniture around myself….he just comes home to a completely repositioned room…I know how much he LOVES it when I do that.
So, if I take everything out of the shelves do you think he’ll move them? Maybe I’ll do that tomorrow….which will be when he reads this entry. And then after I clear the shelves (did you hear that hiss…that was the steam coming out of Scott’s ears) I will unplug all of the computer type stuff (did you hear a pop? That was Scott’s head as he is at work having palpitations that I will touch the computer types stuff) and then try to move the shelves. Now seeing that I won’t be able to actually move them I will leave it like that until Scott gets home and he can help me. After he helps me move the shelves he can figure out what the heck I did to his computer type things.

Nightmares…Oh My!
I left my camera upstairs so I can’t take any pictures today. Instead I bring you my nightmares….
Last night, well not really, based on the state I woke up in I think it was an early morning nightmare. I remember being chased throughout a very, very BIG house (lovely home, whoever owns it did a very nice job) by a gun toting mad man who kept shooting at me. Nice eh. And the weird thing was that I was running around with Kate from the NCIS tv show, bullet hole in the forehead and all. Very, very bizarre.
As a result I was absolutely terrified to get out of bed. I’m brave like that. Finally dragging my sweaty self out of bed I also bravely let the dogs go downstairs first. And then also just as bravely turned on ALL the lights.
I’m tired, I feel like I’ve running all night. So gun toting mad man and Kate, please stay away from my sleep tonight.

Where Is That Sandman?
I was waiting for sleep to come and claim MC this afternoon. It was a long, long wait…1 hour and 39 minutes to be exact (but who’s counting?). It’s amazing how creatively draining a small chatty little boy can be.
And now that he’s sleeping I’m not feeling like taking pictures of the fabulous thing I was going to tell you about today. You’ll just have to come back on Monday.
