Kissy, Kissy
Merlin has been known to pass gas occasionally…okay, like everyday. So here I am sitting ever so innocently watching Play With Me Sesame and waiting for MC’s afternoon munchies to kick in. Merlin jumps up to sit beside me and not so noiselessly passes his daily fart. MC felt the need to respond to this wondrous noise…with what you say? His own fart noise? A raspberry?
Oh no, nothing that mundane. The boy copies Merlin with kissy noises.
All this time I thought that Merlin was just doing what dogs do, but MC has shown me that this is the way dogs blow kisses.

After I Cleaned Up Poo
I realized that most of my morning activities are buffered by that phrase. After I clean up cat poo I’ll sit down with MC for a bit. After I clean up MC poo, I’ll go clean the poo he leaked onto the bathroom counter. After I clean up the leaked poo, I’ll put laundry away. After I clean up dog poo, I’ll water the grass.
See what I mean. Poo. I’m surrounded.

Better Late Than Never?
Here are the photos of the new towel rack. I was going to show off the shower organizer, but seriously do you need to see all my girly jams and jellies? How about my flaming pink razor…No? Didn’t think so!
So without further ado….our boutique hotel style towel rack…came up with that name myself…impressed?

My Very Light Brush With Fame
Now I know someone who met someone sort of famous. My father in law was on a program on the History Channel on Working Over Time with Jeff Douglas. So that’s it, that’s as close as I get to fame. Thank goodness he was in a show that required some brains and it wasn’t some strange show. So now I know someone who’s been on tv, and he happens to be smart.

Sniff, Sniff…
Do you smell that? No, no not THAT….thaaaaat…
BBQ season is HERE, all hail and rejoice at the glory that is cooking with FIRE!
Okay not fire so much as propane, but still there’s flames. We tested out the BBQ and helped ourselves to some very delicious bison burgers, which MC scarfed up. Tonight we feast on pork loin, potatoes and zucchini. I need to do some research on different marinades and rubs. This year we’ve decided to try and get a bit fancy and up our BBQ abilities.
I’m eagerly anticipating a new season of Licence to Grill with Rob Rainford. I know last year Bobby Flay had one, but I don’t like him…he irritates the crap out of me for some reason. Other than those two I can’t remember any other shows that specifically talked about BBQing. Hopefully this year I’ll have time to pay more attention.

How Does Your Garden Grow?
We cleaned up the front garden and grass over the weekend. Finally we got to say good bye to the last crumbs of winter in it’s disgusting glory. It amazes me how much garbage and filth gets hidden beneath those layers of sparkly whiteness. Anyway, after removing the actual garbage from the flowerbed I had to then go and pull out all of the dead leaves and plants. After that labour of love was done I was left with some nice rich, black soil. I must be doing something right, right? The tulips are growing and no doubt I’ll soon see some lovely flowers. My peony bush seems to be surviving, but since I forgot to trim it down last fall I’m guessing no flowers this year…if you know the answer to that one I’d appreciate it.
The one part of the garden I’m struggling with is the iris’. I like them enough, don’t get me wrong but the things are TAKING OVER. They have so much greenery on them I sometimes can only see those.
I think this year I’ll add some summer colour with pansies, I don’t think I can kill those. Rumour has it, if you water your garden things don’t die….we’ll see.
In my local garden centre’s flyer they were advertising Golden Yuccas, bragging that they’re “drought resistant” and can live in “dry soil”. Obviously they’ve never spent an afternoon in the small patch of desert that is my back yard. At $30 a plant I’m not sure that I’m willing to experiment, but it IS barren out there.
A Prickly Day
Today was a vet visit for Squish and Zoe. Both got a rabies shot and an examination. Retrieving Squish from upstairs was quite a trip. I’ve got half a dozen scratches on one arm and the cat turned into the usual anti vet tornado as he always does. Once I had him on the table the vet asked me if I ever watched Dancing With the Stars…odd question…but I said yes occasionally. He said it looked like Squish and I were doing the samba. I love my vet. During the exam he did his usual self defense technique of FULL HAIR RELEASE. We were covered and there was a fluffy layer of soft white fur left on the table.
We talked about Maca and her illness. She has a disease that affects her teeth and mouth, painfully. She has ulcers and it is red and inflamed pretty much always. We’ve been treating with antibiotics but that isn’t a cure, merely something to help lessen the pain. I know he had been learning about it as I’m not his only client with a cat with the disease and he has come to the conclusion that there is only one cure that will fix it permanently. It’s extreme but in her case with the severity of it, it does look like our only option. He is going to refer us to a special dentist and we’ll look at having her teeth removed (yes all of them) as well as any diseased tissue. Fun times ahead for Maca.
The disease is called gingivitis stomatitis. I’ve been having trouble finding too much information on it, all I’m coming up with are short paragraphs. Hopefully this new vet will be able to give us more information.
